Western PA Genealogical Society
Presented by: Members of WPGS

The Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society (WPGS) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization of amateur and professional family historians and genealogists dedicated to the study and preservation of family history mainly in Western Pennsylvania. Since 1974, WPGS has aimed to provide members with genealogically related information, connections, and resources to enhance your family history research, wherever it may take you.
The Board of Directors and Committee Leaders continually strive to serve our members better and provide value to the genealogy community. One way we are serving members is by continually expanding the content available on our website: www.wpgs.org
We offer virtual and hybrid programming eight months a year, a monthly virtual Special Interest Group for Western Pa. research, and an online library catalog and many online digital databases for our members (and some for the public as well). Content includes digitized church records, cemetery records, family histories, photographs, Allegheny County naturalization record indexes, morgue book indexes, death register indexes, publically available full color digital copies of Allegheny County death registers from 1893-1905, and the 42 vol. WPGS Quarterly journal indexes and digital copies.
We offer several types of research services to both members and non-members, a large online used book store, as well as WPGS publications for sale in both hard copy and digital formats. These are available through our website or in-person via our library which is located on the third floor of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Main Branch in Oakland at 440 Forbes Ave. Stop up and see us sometime. We invite you to consider volunteering with WPGS in our library, on a committee, or virtually!
