Ellis Michaels is an amateur genealogy and history enthusiast who volunteers at the Homestead Cemetery as a Board Member and as the Conservator of Historical Grave Memorials. He lives in Pitcairn and works full-time as a Registered Nurse in a local hospital.

His work with the Soldiers Circle has led to his involvement with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War on their Grave Registration Project, and he has worked to restore or replace Civil War Veteran grave markers in several cemeteries throughout the local area.​
