We are so honored to have hosted volunteer members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 432 over the weekend. In just a few hours, these volunteers were able to totally transform the gutted space into a room that now shows promise for its future intention.
Special thanks goes to Rusty Firestone, Joe Dorko, and Tom Imhoff for their hard work in prepping, demo-ing, and getting the electrical work ready ahead of time over the past month; Ellis Michaels, Corey Potts, and Russ Crookham for unloading supplies prior to Local 432 arriving; Rick Brennan of Park Plumbing for mapping out the new ADA-accessible bathroom on the lower level; J. Kevin Ondo for donating beautiful stained glass windows and a door from the former Willis Center Chapel, as well as coordinating this event with his son, John Ondo, who is a leading member of Local 432. We most especially thank the members of Local 432 who have so graciously volunteered their time and expertise. Without you all, this project couldn't have moved forward.
Many projects towards the conversion have been completed, but there is still much more work to be accomplished! Your tax deductible donation can assist towards pouring a ramp and pathway for funeral access to the Chapel space, replacing and repointing brick around the façade of the newly installed French doors, flooring, interior and exterior lighting, painting, new energy efficient windows, and furnishing the Chapel. Every dollar helps, and we are so appreciative towards the community for rallying towards around this project.
Below are some before, during, and after photos of the incredible work completed by volunteer members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 432. Photos are credited to Rusty Firestone, Kyra Mangold-Ostovich, Rob Falce, and Patrick Joseph Danesky.
