JaQuay Edward Carter, award-winning historian, and USMC Veteran, is a Homestead native who has been researching the region's history for over a decade, with a primary focus on the Black Experience. Mr. Carter is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in History Education.

Since 2019, JaQuay has been focused on the history of Homestead with his popular Facebook group, Historic Homestead: Steel Capital of the World.

His acclaimed work has led to a vast array of professional opportunities in community development, historic preservation, consulting, neighborhood planning, media publication, outreach, and public speaking – including serving on the Board of the Homestead Cemetery Association in 2022-2023.
